state of education

Well we are a few months in now to the con-dem government in the UK. What has happened? Strategy gone, ict driver gone, levels in loc authorities gone, bsf gone, free schools and academies set up but in. different process. BECTA has gone…..see previous post. Harnessing new technology grant has been halved…which is a shocker in terms of broadband connectivity and sharing the pain across an local authority….which will hit small schools and specials the hardest. Direction unknown…capital spending review in October. Where does this leave ict in UK? In a very poor position I think.

Australia looks like its also going down this route with co-alliance. However they are not in recession and don’t have to cut back as much….so future is bright there for ict and education. Not so much for the UK anymore.
