Schools’ lessons in excellence

There has been a lot of press around OfSTED this week.  Interestingly when I took some teachers to SWEDEN  (see We saw that the free schools and academies were raving about our Ofsted system as standards were a little inconsistent in several areas.    Looking at the paper to day in Australia there has been a break through by the Grattan Institute (download the full report here)

In essence you will notice some familiarity :

    Strong leadership

    Effective teaching

    Measurement of student progress using tests results

    A positive school culture providing an orderly and disciplined environment for learning

    Engaging parents and the community

So lets compare that to the OfSTED process

Quality of L&M
Quality of Teaching
Using Raiseonline and school based data
Behaviour and Safety
Speaking and getting views from parents, looking at community links
